The managing director of the National Housing Trust, Cecile Watson, has been sent on leave to facilitate a probe at the agency.

The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre learnt that the board is currently investigating irregular spending at the NHT.

Staff at the NHT have reported that Watson and another senior officer have both been sent on leave effective yesterday.

However, attempts to get details on the matter from the board proved futile.

The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre tried reaching chairman, Easton Douglas, as well as several other members of the board.

The three board members who answered their phones all said they were unable to comment on the matter, directing our queries to Douglas.

However, one board member did acknowledge being aware Watson has been sent on leave.
