Captain Lloyd Tai, Chief Operating Officer at Fly Jamaica Airways, is upbeat that the new routes to Guyana will be lucrative for the Caribbean-based airline.

Fly Jamaica Airways is set to begin non-stop services from Kingston to Georgetown, Guyana, on Thursday, September 26 and non-stop service from New York to Georgetown on September 27.

According to Tai, the non-stop services between Kingston and Georgetown, will provide a convenient gateway for the nationals of both countries and tourists in the region.

"We are trying to link Guyana to New York and Guyana to Jamaica. To get to Guyana these days you end up hanging around in the airports for hours. Now you get non-stop flights from Jamaica to Guyana, Tai said.

In addition, Tai said the new routes will improve trade and business interests in both countries since the travel experience will be more convenient.

Guyana, he said, will also provide convenient connections to other Caribbean and South American countries.
