Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington is dismissing claims that he is backing Audley Shaw for the leadership of the Jamaica Labour Party.

Ellington said claims have emerged that he attended a recent fundraiser for Shaw.

Speaking at a press conference today, he said the allegations were made by a caller to a popular daytime talk show.

The police commissioner said there is no truth to the claim.

Ellington further stressed that he has no political affiliations adding that he has maintained a high level of professionalism.

He said he has asked for the show’s transcript, which he said will be passed on to his lawyer for further action.
