JUTC to draw brakes on free transfers

Published: Wednesday November 6, 2013 | 8:18 am Comments 0

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has announced it will discontinue transfers on its routes as of Sunday as it moves to plug revenue leaks.

The JUTC previously allowed customers travelling on one route to request transfers to other routes without cost.

Marketing and Communications Manager, Clinton Clarke, says this was designed to encourage use of the bus system.

However, he says the service has been abused significantly by JUTC customers.

The JUTC says the shuttles to be affected by the change are numbers 500, 600, 800 and 900.

The bus company says it regrets any inconvenience that this change may cause to its customers.
