West Indies head coach Ottis Gibson says fast bowler Tino Best will lead the Caribbean side attack in the first Test against New Zealand which starts at 4:30 p.m. Jamaica time in Dunedin.
The Caribbean side will be without two of its main bowlers – Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul.
And as a result, Gibson has challenged Best to rise to the occasion and prove himself.
In addition, star batsman Chris Gayle of Jamaica will miss all three tests.
The explosive batsman tore a hamstring in the opening One-Day International against India and returned home.
West Indies captain Darren Sammy has challenged his side to put the India series behind quickly.
They lost both Tests by an innings.
Sammy says the New Zealand series is an opportunity for the West Indies to end the year on a high.
The New Zealand series comprises three tests, five One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 matches.
