An ancillary worker employed to a major financial institution in May Pen, Clarendon, is now in police custody on suspicion that he was behind the theft of a half-a-million dollars there.

The money reportedly went missing on November 18.

Police investigators say they were alerted to the employee when he reportedly began lodging large sums of cash to his account at the same financial institution.

It is reported that investigators later conducted a search of the employee’s May Pen home where they discovered $450,000.

According to one investigator, the employee was arrested on suspicion of simple larceny after he was unable to properly account for the cash.
