The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard says it is exhausting all efforts to search for two fishermen who went missing at sea over the weekend.
The JDF says its Operations Duty Officer at the Coast Guard received information yesterday morning, that both men from the Old Harbour Bay Area, departed on a 30 feet white and orange canoe named 'Puncie' at minutes past four on Sunday afternoon.
Richard Hamilton and Ian Cook departed from Old Harbour Bay for Middle Cay, Pedro Banks.
It is reported that they were expected to be at Middle Cay at 10 o’clock Sunday night but never arrived.
The JDF said its Coast Guard responded to a call received yesterday and conducted a detailed search of the indicated areas but up to this morning, the vessel was still not seen.
The JDF says its Air Wing has since been incorporated into the search efforts, with the use of a helicopter, and the search and rescue mission is ongoing.
The JDF says its Coast Guard and the Air Wing are exhausting all efforts to find the men.
The JDF is reminding all fisher folk that a small craft warning still remains in effect for the offshore areas of the north and south coasts due to strong winds and rough seas.
Fisher folk are advised to remain in harbour and not to risk their lives or property by venturing to sea in these conditions.
