Minister of Health Dr Fenton Ferguson says the ministry will be seeking to purchase an additional 10 ambulances during the 2014-2015 financial year to further increase the fleet across the public-health sector.

Ferguson was speaking during the handing over of a new ambulance to the University Hospital of the West Indies yesterday at the ministry.

The ambulance is one of 19 purchased this year at a cost of US$884,323 with money from the National Health Fund.

Ferguson said the Centres of Excellence in primary care will be recipients of ambulances and that the handing over is part of the Government’s commitment to building a strong health sector.
