The Minister of Finance and Planning has appointed a new Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ).

John Robinson has been appointed to the position.

The BOJ says his appointment comes into effect December 13.

Robinson, currently Deputy Governor for the Research & Economic Programming Division and Financial Stability, has worked with the bank for more than 29 years.

The BOJ says he has provided strategic direction for the coordination and development of the Bank’s economic research work and the design of monetary policy.

In his new role, Robinson will participate with the Governor in the strategic and operational direction of the Bank, while ensuring the maintenance of the Bank’s intense focus on monetary policy formulation and implementation, as it contributes to a more stable and competitive environment for economic growth.

The post of Senior Deputy Governor was previously held by Myrtle Halsall, who
will leave on retirement on December 13.
