Traffic changes for Santa Cruz

Published: Tuesday December 17, 2013 | 4:47 pm Comments 0

The National Works Agency (NWA) has implemented a one way system for vehicular traffic in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.

The agency says the move is aimed at better regulating traffic flows through the town leading up to the Christmas and the New Year.

It says the one way system will be in operation from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, until January 6, 2014.

As a result of the changes Main Street from the intersection of Institution Drive and Coke Drive will be accommodating motorists heading in a westerly direction (from Goshen).

Therefore no right turn will be allowed from Coke Drive onto Main Street.

The NWA says all vehicles heading from that direction into the town will only be allowed to turn left.

It says motorists wishing to enter Santa Cruz or beyond, from the direction of Lacovia will have to make a left at the traffic signals at the intersection of Main Street and the Bypass as no right turn be allowed onto Market Street from the Bypass.

Meanwhile, motorists wishing to enter the business district from this direction will have to use Institution Drive, where a right turn will be allowed.

Motorists who wish to travel to the direction of Malvern are being advised to use Retirement Road or travel to the end of the Bypass, turn right at the Total Gas Station and then turn left on Centre Road.
