Congratulations flowed last night as Jamaicans who had gathered across the island celebrated the crowning of Tessanne Chin as The Voice 2013.
High on the list of those hailing the singer’s win in the American talent competition was Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.
She said Tessanne was a fine ambassador for Jamaica during the gruelling competition and that her voice and victory will serve to set the new standard for others to follow.
Opposition Leader, Andrew Holness tweeted his congratulatory message to Tessanne, saying her talent and grace inspires a nation.
There were congratulatory messages from several other politicians including culture minister, Lisa Hanna and her opposition counterpart, Olivia Grange; Opposition MP Audley Shaw and junior tourism minister, Damion Crawford.
There were also congratulatory messages from persons in the entertainment industry including Jerome Hamilton of Headline Entertainment, which is one of Tessanne’s booking agents.
He said he was ecstatic over the win, though he knew she would triumph.
