A St Elizabeth man who allegedly chopped and killed a man and injured a woman has been granted one million-dollar bail.

As a condition of his bail, 23-year-old Ian Clarke was ordered to surrender his travel documents and the court imposed a stop order against him.

Clarke, who is charged with murder and wounding with intent, was also ordered to report to the Free Port Police Station, in St James, every day between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

A curfew order from between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. was also imposed.

Allegations are that on October 27 Clarke had a dispute with another man identified as Tedroy Largie when he used a cutlass to chop him on the neck.

The manís sister attempted to intervene and Clarke reportedly used the cutlass to inflict wounds to her shoulder and left hand.

They were both taken to hospital where Largie was pronounced dead.
