The Police High Command is condemning the brutal slaying of District Constable Paul White by gunmen in August Town last evening.

He was attached to the St Andrew Central Division.

A woman corporal narrowly escaped death, after being shot by the same group of men.

The Police High Command said it notes with grave concern the consistent propensity of brazen criminals to target members of the security forces.

It said District Constable White and the woman corporal demonstrated great bravery, as they were attacked in the process of apprehending one of the most wanted men in the St Andrew Central Division.

And it is urging the colleagues of District Constable White to spare no effort in hunting down his killers and bringing them to justice.

The High Command said District Constable Whiteís family has since been assigned a force chaplain to offer support and counselling.
