Jamaica's foreign ministry is commending members of the Jamaican Diaspora in the United States for its strong support which helped Tessanne Chin to win season five of the popular and highly rated US talent show The Voice.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed thanks especially to members of the Diaspora in Atlanta, California, Chicago, Colorado, Florida, New York, and Texas.

In a release to the press, the ministry said the role played by restaurant owners who hosted Twitter parties at their establishments, and by community leaders, politicians and members of the media fraternity, among others, who voted through various means, must be especially recognised.

It says the level of collaboration demonstrates the commitment of the Jamaican Diaspora to participating in all aspects of the nationís life and is evidence of what can be achieved when Jamaicans unite.

The foreign ministry says the ministries of culture and tourism, as well as the Jamaican consulates in the US, also played a significant role in mobilising the Diaspora.
