Police Commissioner Owen Ellington has lauded the efforts of the police following yesterday's operations which led to the seizure of seven illegal guns and an assortment of ammunition.

He says the police's initiatives indicate the JCF's "relentless efforts to disarm criminal gangs" in order to create safer communities.

Commissioner Ellington especially commended the Westmoreland police, who he says, went beyond the call of duty, sacrificing personal and family time to search for members of the Alma Gang.

The police commissioner has also urged Jamaicans to support the his men and women by providing information and to report all suspicious activities in their communities immediately.

He has also urged criminal suspects to surrender peacefully to the police when accosted, as this will reduce the risk of harm to both suspects and the police.
