The man held in connection with the murders of two teenagers in Salt River, Clarendon has been released from police custody.

The 24-year-old man had been in custody since last Friday.

On Monday, his attorney Dwight Reece filed a writ of habeas corpus in the May Pen Resident Magistrate’s Court.

When the matter was mentioned in court this morning, police investigators told the court that no charges were laid against the accused and he was subsequently released.

Nineteen-year-old Jamaican-American Franciena Johnson of Brooklyn, New York, and her 18-year-old cousin, Nadia Fearon, disappeared last week Thursday after reportedly leaving together for May Pen.

Johnson was in Jamaica visiting her grandmother.

Her body was found three days later with gunshot wounds, while Fearon’s body was subsequently discovered floating in the Salt River.
