GB Energy grants Texaco dealers contract extension

Published: Monday January 6, 2014 | 5:29 pm Comments 0

GB Energy, the local operators of the Texaco brand in Jamaica, has broken its silence on the ongoing dispute involving local dealers.

In a statement this afternoon GB Energy said there is an agreement for an interim extension of the contracts of the three dealers in question to February 28.

The contracts had originally expired on November 30 but were extended to December 31, last year.

The company says confidential negotiations with the three operators are ongoing.

According to the company, meetings were held, as recent as last week, aimed at moving towards a suitable outcome for all parties involved.

GB Energy says it will continue to engage all its associates in an open manner.

Texaco dealers islandwide have withdrawn their services to press GB Energy to make compensatory payments to the three dealers.

Meanwhile, the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association has called for GB Energy to settle all lease agreements by the end of the month instead of the February 28 deadline.
