St Ann boy loses eye after pit bull attack

Published: Tuesday January 7, 2014 | 1:10 pm Comments 0

The police are warning members of the public to be wary of purchasing pit bulls as pets.

The warning follows an incident in St Ann where a boy lost his eye after he was attacked by a pit bull.

The police are also warning people to be careful when approaching premises with the animals.

The Constabulary Communication Network says there has been a trend of pit bulls attacking persons even their owners.

In 2012, a woman and her 14-month-old son were attacked in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Months later, a 2-year-old girl was killed in Rosehall, St Catherine.

The police say people should avoid purchasing pit bulls.

They say dog owners must remember that they have a responsibility to properly secure their animals.
