NWC installing new water meters islandwide

The National Water Commission (NWC) is urging customers to conserve on the use of water especially as it intensifies its programme to replace old meters islandwide with more efficient ones.

In a newspaper advertisement published today, the NWC said the new meters will more accurately measure water consumption.

This could mean higher water bills for some people.

However, the NWC says the new meters will allow customers to better monitor their water usage.

Last October, it was revealed that the NWC recorded losses totalling $3.5 billion for the period April-September.

The NWC has sought to explain that its network of old, leaking pipes significantly contributes to its losses each year.
