Robot taxi driver arrested for attempting to bribe cop

KINGSTON, Jamaica:
A robot taxi operator who reportedly attempted to bribe the police yesterday has been arrested and charged with attempting to bribe a police officer.


The police say Norvelle White, a 22-year-old a mechanic of Cavalier district in Stony Hill, St Andrew was observed operating an illegal taxi in Stony Hill about 4 'clock.

He was reportedly signalled to stop and informed of the offence.

The police say while being ticketed for, White offered a policeman a sum of money to drop the prosecution.

He was taken into custody and the motor vehicle seized.

White was offered bail in the sum of $50,000 when he was taken before the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is to reappear on Wednesday, January 15.
