The Mona High School is counting its losses following yesterday's fire that destroyed a gas tank truck.
The inferno billowed for almost an hour adjacent to a wall around the school's farm.
Vice-principal Arlene Findlay says the entire field of vegetables was destroyed.
A papaya plant was the only fruit tree left standing.
Findlay says the school is in session although there is no electricity.
She says the majority of students had already left yesterday when the sparks from the burning gas tank truck started a fire on the school compound.
Findlay said students on the compound were playing netball and had to be taken to safety until the fire was brought under control.
