Still waiting for Bull Bay quarry redress
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Since alerting the public and the National Environment and Planning Agency about the east rural St Andrew limestone quarry that is a nuisance to residents ('Bull Bay quarry irks homeowners', July 5, 2014), I have had no response.
I have no idea who is responsible for the state of the mining in this area. I will continue to write to enquire who is the accountable authority and for someone to tell me if the method of mining is being conducted according to the law.
Material occasionally falls from the mountainside and blocks the path of the river, and when it rains, the water that normally would flow into the riverbed instead runs along the road.
This condition makes the road impassable and deposits a lot of the marl in the road. I suggest that this condition be addressed quickly before the problem is exacerbated.
