87 persons killed in 81 fatal crashes since January

Just under half of the persons killed in motor vehicle crashes this year were between 20 and 39 years old.

That’s according to figures released by the Road Safety Unit in the Transport Ministry, which shows that 87 persons have died in 81 fatal crashes since the start of the year.

The number of persons killed in motor vehicle crashes this year is down 24 percent while the number of fatal crashes is down 16 percent when compared with the corresponding period last year.

The Road Safety Unit data shows that of the 87 persons killed this year, 73 are males and 14 are females.

And it says 33 of the males were between 20 and 39 years old compared to four females in the same age group.
