Missing...

A
woman cries as she glances at pictures posted of the missing by
their relatives and friends.
Three Jamaicans
have now been officially confirmed dead and 11 are missing in the
aftermath of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre in New
York last week.
The dead have
been identified as Neil Hinds and Keith Broomfield. Hinds was a
former athlete who was attending a seminar in a building near the
Trade Centre when one of the towers collapsed and debris crushed
him before he could escape. He died in hospital. Broomfield worked
on the 110th floor of Tower 1 as a technician with Advent Corporation.
The name of the third person has not yet been released.
Those missing
are Carol South-Rabalais, who worked on the 90th floor, Tower 2;
Michael Parkes, an accountant who worked in the Tower; Venesha Richards;
Karen Gordon; Denise Gregory; Steve Bunin; Delrose Cheatham; Rochelle
Snell; Vaswell Hall, Courtney Walcott and Crossley Williams.
Jamaica's Consul
General, Dr. Basil Bryan, has created a register at the Consulate,
which invites Jamaicans to name those missing and dead.
My heart sank
As I drove to work and heard
what had happened.
Sitting in silence
Wondering
What if that were....
me!
Envisaging the
horror I sat
Unwilling to move
Lest I
too be caught up
in this
web of hypocrisy
and callousness
that
plague humanity
"Oh,
just another awful day".
My heart was
soaked
wet with compassion
As I remembered
all the Jamaicans who had
migrated on the quest for
'greener pastures'
The humming
noise
Shattered glasses
Rumbling walls
Fear
Wailing
...Death!
What now?
As I imagine
the "what was"
Happy faces
Nonchalant attitudes
"Oh,
I really didn't feel like coming to work today"
To the
'what is'
A second
later...
...Silence
With nothing
but the sound
of evil lingering....
To all
my fellow Jamaicans
My fellow
man...
My heartfelt
condolences to you and yours
Who are
now gone
Just remember,
You can
do all things through Christ who strengthens you
With all
my heart...
God's
blessings.
