West Indies against Sri Lanka in semifinal
Sri Lanka, sent in to bat by the West Indies, were 63 without loss after nine overs in their 20/20 World Cup semifinal at The Oval in England.
West Indies made one change for the match from the side that beat England on Monday, with Andre Fletcher making way for Jamaican Xavier Marshall.
Pacer Fidel Edwards has failed to recover from a back strain, so Darren Sammy keeps his place.
Sri Lanka are unchanged from the team that eliminated New Zealand on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, England reached the final of the Women’s 20/20 World Cup when Clare Taylor hit an unbeaten 76 from 53 balls to lead them to a memorable eight-wicket victory over arch-rivals Australia in the first match at The Oval.
Taylor struck eight boundaries and shared an unbroken third wicket partnership of 122 runs with Beth Morgan, 46, as England successfully chased 164 for victory.
The result means that England will face New Zealand in the Women’s final on Sunday at Lord’s in a repeat of the 50 overs Women’s World Cup final earlier this year at Sydney.
The Women’s Final will precede the Men’s final between Pakistan and the winner of the Sri Lanka, West Indies game.
