Pan Am Junior Round Up
Jamaica recorded their best ever showing at the Pan American Junior Track and Field Championships with a medal haul of 13 at the 2009 games, which ended at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago last night.
The Jamaicans mined three medals, including two gold on yesterday’s final day.
The gold medals came from Nikita Tracey and the women’s 4x400-metre relay team.
Tracey won the 400-metre hurdles final in 57.82 seconds ahead of American Dalilah Muhammad, who clocked 58.42s. Jamaican Danielle Dowie finished third for the bronze medal in 58.92 seconds.
The women’s 4x400-metre relay quartet of Jodi-Ann Muir, Amoy Blake, Danielle Dowie and Nitita Tracey won the final in three minutes 37.66 seconds.
Jamaica ended the championships in second position with four gold, two silver and seven bronze medals, behind winner the USA.
