Hearing for athletes tested positive continues today

The hearings for the five Jamaican athletes who returned positive tests for a banned drug at the National Senior Trials in June will continue today.

Day one of the hearings on Monday ended prematurely.

Kent Gammon, the chairman of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission’s disciplinary committee, says the hearings ended after just 30 minutes because of various issues, which came up.

However, he declined to comment on the issues, which caused the hearings to end prematurely.

A source told Gleaner/Power 106 Sports that the athletes were uncomfortable with the three-member panel selected to hear their cases.

The five athletes, four men and a woman, are still on Jamaica’s team named for the World Championships.

The World Championships will run from August 15 to 23.
