Hinds loses Derbyshire contract

Jamaican batsman Wavell Hinds, who signed for the unsanctioned Indian Cricket League (ICL), has lost his contract with English Club Derbyshire.

Hinds signed for Derbyshire in October as a Kolpak player.

However, because he has played first-class cricket in another country in the last 12 months, his registration has been blocked.

Hinds is playing for the Ahmedabad Rockets in the Indian league.

Derbyshire’s chief executive, Tom Sears said the club is very disappointed that Hinds will not be able to play this season.

The ECD has taken similar action against Andrew Hall and Johan Van der Wath of Northants and Justin Kemp of Kent, who signed for the ICL.
