Aaron Brooks scores career high

Aaron Brooks scored a career high 33 points as the Houston Rockets beat Los Angeles Lakers 101-91 last night, sending the NBA champion Lakers to a second consecutive loss.

Los Angeles Lakers was coming off a 105-79 drubbing at Denver two nights earlier, only to have another team they vanquished in last season\'s title run show them up at home, where they got booed.

David Andersen added a career high 19 for the Rockets.

At Phoenix, Amare Stoudemire scoring 30 points to lead the Phoenix Suns to a narrow 101-100 victory over Toronto Raptors.

At Auburn Hills, Michigan, Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points and Rodrique Beaubois added 14 points to help the Dallas Mavericks beat Detroit Pistons 95-90.

At Oklahoma City, Baron Davis scored 24 points, including a key 3 pointer in the final minute, to help Los Angeles Clippers beat Oklahoma City Thunder 101-93.
