Brett Lee in danger of missing first test

An elbow injury has ruled pacer Brett Lee out of New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield clash with Tasmania tomorrow, further damaging his chances of facing West Indies in the first Test in Brisbane next week.

The 33-year-old was expected to seek advice on the injury today but it is unlikely he will feature in the selection frame, with the first Test at the Gabba just over a week away.

Lee has not played a Test since last Christmas, leading to speculation his latest injury setback could spell the end of his career.

With the chances against Tasmania now gone, Lee has no opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of the first Testing starting on November 26.

He is one of several players battling injury ahead of the opening Test with fast bowler Peter Siddle nursing a side strain and seamer Ben Hilfenhaus struggling with a knee ailment.
