Canada’s Oliver Tubb leads Jamaica Open
Canada’s Oliver Tubb shot a 66 to grab the lead after 18 holes after yesterday’s opening day of the 46th staging of the 56 hole Lime Jamaica Open Golf Championship at Half Moon Golf Course in Montego Bay.
Tubb was one of four players to finish with under par scores in the 63 strong international field, which consists of both professionals and amateurs.
The other three players with under par scores were Italian Marcello Santi, who shot a 69, and Dave Rummell and Joe Choi, both of the United States, who both shot 71.
Defending champion and two-time winner, Jamaica’s Johnny Bloomfield got off to an imposing start as he was 4 under par after 5 holes. However, he faltered badly and finished on 74, 8 strokes off the lead.
The winner of the three-day tournament will walk away with US$14,000.
The second place finisher will take home US$8,000, third place US$5,500, fourth place US$4,000, fifth place US$3,000 and sixth US$2,600.
