Wildfires in Australia cause extensive damages

Close to 40 houses have been reduced to rubble, after wildfires raged through farming areas north of the Western Australian capital of Perth.

Officials say the fires have destroyed 33,000 acres of land.

They say the area known as Toodyay has been the worse affected.

State Premier, Colin Barnett has since declared the incident a natural disaster and has activated the disbursement of emergency funds for affected persons.

Wildfires in Australia are common during the summer, and experts have warned that this year\'s fires could be particularly bad because of the extended dry conditions.

The country is still recovering from wildfires back in February in the state of Victoria, which had killed 173 persons and destroyed more than 2,000 houses.
