Fire chief appeals for caution
The Trelawny Fire Department has joined in the appeal for residents to be even more careful when using fires given the current drought.
Last month, fires resulted in $25 million in damage to properties in Trelawny.
However, the Trelawny Fire Brigade managed to save $107.8 million worth of property that was at risk.
According to the assistant superintendent for the Trelawny Fire Department Everton Houston, last month there were 24 fire calls to the station.
This is 12 fewer than the 36 that were received in December.
Last month 24 people were left homeless in Trelawny because of fires.
