Jermaine Taylor of St Georges Sports Club has been appointed captain of Jamaica’s senior national football team that will tackle World Cup hosts South Africa in a friendly international tonight in Frankfurt, Germany.

The match is slated to kick off at 1:30 p.m. Jamaica time.

The remaining members of the starting line up are goalkeeper Duwayne Kerr, Desmond Breakenridge, Dicoy Williams, Navion Boys, Kavin Bryan, Keamar Daley, Jevaughn Watson, Richard Edwards, Xavian Virgo and Ryan Johnson, the only overseas-based player in the 18-man squad.

South Africa were due to face China but had to make new plans when the Chinese said the volcanic ash cloud over Europe hampered the trip.

As a result, the Reggae Boyz were asked to fill the void at short notice and the squad arrived in Germany just 10 hours before the scheduled kick off time.

This will be the fourth meeting between the teams with their last meeting being in November last year in Bloemfontein, South Africa. That game, like the others, ended in a draw.
