No decision on BP’s CEO

British Petroleum (BP) says no final decision has been made regarding whether embattled CEO Tony Hayward will leave the company.

In a statement yesterday, BP said it notes the speculation in the press regarding potential changes to the company’s management and the charge for the costs of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

However, BP says no final decision has been made on these matters.

The statement, which did not mention Hayward by name, said any decisions will be appropriately announced.

It also said BP's board is expected to meet Monday night ahead of the announcement of its second quarter earnings.

Despite widespread media reports that Hayward was on the verge of leaving, BP said on Sunday that he still had the company's support.
