The much anticipated results of the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT), are to be sent to the various schools early next week.
A ministry source said though schools, parents and the students are apprehensive, the results are not unusually late.
However, the source also said a decision has been taken by the ministry to release the results to the schools early next week to reduce the level of apprehension.
Concerns have been swirling islandwide regarding the delay of the release of the results, and the likely impact it could have on students and parents in beginning preparations for the new school year.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Education has rebutted media reports about wide scale shortage of test papers for the Grade FourLiteracy and Numeracy test, which was held on Wednesday.
It has also dismissed claims that many examination centres opened late.
A release from the ministry said contrary to reports, no examination centre started after 11 a.m.
It said the exam began the latest at one school where administrative hiccups resulted in students starting the test at 10.40 a.m.
