Jamaica College receives refurbished block of classrooms

Jamaica College students will now have comfier surroundings after a block of newly refurbished classrooms was handed over to them by Gore Developments Limited.



Four classrooms were refurbished and a fifth constructed.



The building has also been officially named "The Phillip Gore Building".



Phillip Gore, the chairman of Gore Development Ltd, said that giving back to his alma mater was a "no brainer".



“Jamaica College means something to me and hence it was a ‘no brainer’ to help, because I passionately believe in education being the salvation for this country”



According to the school’s principal, Ruel Reid, the new classrooms will boast the latest technologies and will be used for study sessions to allow for more group work.



He also intends to facilitate a culinary arts programme in one of the classrooms.



Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Audrey Sewell, acknowledged the ministry’s constraints to fulfill all the needs of schools and commended the partnership of Jamaica College and the Gore team taking on the task of making the spaces available for the students.
