The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) is expected to disclose its plan for collecting $40 million owed by the National Water Commission (NWC) for unpaid regulatory fees, today.

Director of Consumer and Public Affairs at the OUR, David Geddes yesterday disclosed that the OUR has made a decision on the payment plan submitted by the NWC.

He says the details of the payment plan will be announced as soon as the NWC receives a letter outlining the OUR’s decision.

The OUR issued a press release previously stating that the NWC owed $40 million in regulatory fees.

As a result, the water commission was issued a memorandum by the OUR earlier this month, demanding that the payments be made or the company would face legal action.

Mr. Geddes said the OUR will be holding islandwide consultations as it reviews a request by the NWC to increase water rates by 44 percent.
