Police targeting bad motorists

The police say they will be targeting offenders of the Road Traffic Act over the holiday season to prevent possible motor vehicle crashes.

At least 316 people have died in road crashes since January. The latest two were killed in Lucea, Hanover and Content, Manchester on the weekend.

The Constabulary Communication Network, CCN, says the police will be using the newly commissioned breathalyser machines to detect drivers who exceed the alcohol content limit.

Motorcyclists and pillion passengers who fail to wear helmets will also be targeted.

The police also say they will also be enforcing the closing hours of premises with spirit licences.
