A magisterial recount of ballots cast in East Central St. James has confirmed the Jamaica Labour Party’s Ed Bartlett as the winner of the December 29 general election.
The magisterial recount began on Monday at the Cambridge Resident Magistrate’s Court with RM Sandra Wong-Small presiding.
People’s National Party candidate Cedric Stewart filed an election petition challenging the election results contending that there are irregularities in the final numbers.
Bartlett was declared the winner after polling 6,337 votes to Stewart’s 6,172.
The magisterial recount has Bartlett receiving 6,382 votes to Stewart’s 6,208.
