NSWMA workers being intimidated - BITU
Jerome Reynolds, Gleaner Writer
The Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU), says it is concerned about reports of intimidation of workers at the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA).
BITU president, Senator Kavan Gayle, said workers have complained to the union that alleged functionaries of the governing People’s National Party have been making veiled threats that there will be a shake up at the agency.
Gayle said employees are being urged to resign from the agency to make way for new faces.
However, the BITU president said the union will resist any attempt to force out workers.
Last night, we were not able to reach the Local Government minister Noel Arscott to respond to the allegation.
