Transport and Works Minister Dr. Omar Davies, says the details of the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP) will be tabled in Parliament.

He made the comment yesterday at the launch of a road maintenance programme expected to employ about 700 Jamaicans.

It was widely expected that yesterday’s event would have been the official launch of JEEP, based on an announcement by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller on Sunday, that the programme would be rolled out this week.

However yesterday, Simpson Miller backtracked, stating that Inter-American Development Bank-funded project was not a part of JEEP, which would be launched at a later date.

Meanwhile, Dr. Davies said when the Government is ready to move on JEEP, all members of parliament will be consulted on it.

He said the government is committed to transparency and he will be tabling a ministry paper on JEEP, so that MPs can ask questions about it.
