FLORENCE HALL, TRELAWNY: Seven local musical ambassadors were awarded for their contribution to the development of Jamaica’s music on tonight’s first night of the 2012 edition of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium, near Falmouth.

They are: Legendary deejay King Yellowman, songbird Marcia Griffiths, the evergreen John Holt, the King of Ska Derrick Morgan and master bass player Lloyd Parkes of the Lloyd Parkes and We the People Band, Shaggy and Maxi Priest.

The seven were presented with sculptures handmade by Jamaican Betty McGann.
