Fire Destroys Furniture Store on Slipe Road

Firefighters are yet to determine the cause of a fire, which gutted a furniture store and other buildings on Slipe Road in Kingston this morning. Damage has been estimated at $13.5 million dollars.



It is reported that the fire started about 7 a.m., inside the furniture store at 24 Slipe Road and spread quickly to engulf the adjoining buildings. Two of the buildings were unoccupied. The contents of the furniture store were destroyed and the building was not insured.



It took three units from the York Park fire station as well as one from Rollington Town and Half Way Tree to bring the fire under control.
