In the midst of heavy police presence, angry, mournful, teary-eyed protestors took to the streets of Ninth Street in Greenwich Farm, Kingston 13 this morning.
The protest came hours after an alleged police shooting which resulted in the death of 16-year-old Vanessa Kirkland.
Reports indicate that about 9 p.m., Vanessa and five other persons were travelling in a Suzuki Swift motorcar when on reaching the birthday party they were to attend on Norman Road, they were approached by a team of police officers.
Residents in the area say explosions were heard shortly after.
The Immaculate High School teen reportedly died on the spot, while the other occupants were admitted at the Kingston Public Hospital with serious to mild injuries.
Vanessa is the second teen to have been reportedly killed by the police this month under questionable circumstances.
On March 5, 13-year-old Nikita Cameron was among six persons killed in a reported police shootout in West Kingston.
The Independent Commission of Investigations and the Bureau of Special Investigations are probing both incidents.
