The new Mayor of Kingston, Angella Brown-Burke has pledged to carry out the mandate on which she was elected last week.

The People's National Party (PNP) councillor Angela Brown-Burke made the promise as she was sworn in this morning as the fifty third Mayor of Kingston, at the Church Street office of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC).

She replaces former Jamaica labour Party mayor Lee Clarke, after the People’s National Party win in last week’s local government elections.

The PNP now dominates the KSAC with 26 divisions.

PNP councillor for the Vineyard Town division, Andrew Swaby is the new Deputy Mayor.

In the meantime, George Lee is to start his second stint as Mayor of Portmore today.

Lee polled 15,011 votes to the 8, 287 received by incumbent Keith Hinds to take over the reins of the Portmore Municipality.

The swearing in ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at the Portmore H.E.A.R.T Academy.
