PNP heads to Election Court

Published:Friday | April 13, 2012

The People’s National Party (PNP) will be heading to the Election Petition Court to challenge the conduct of the local government election in St. Margaret’s Bay, Portland.

Following a magisterial recount yesterday, the Jamaica Labour Party’s Floyd Patterson prevailed over the PNP’s Vernon Hemmings.

However, Patterson’s majority was cut from 13 votes announced on March 26 to 11.

However, the legal team for the PNP candidate Vernon Hemmings has revealed that there are discrepancies surrounding some ballots and the system of accountability.

The final results indicate that the JLP’s Floyd Patterson polled 1,317 votes to Hemmings’ 1306.
