Carter pulls out of JN invitational

Another high-profile athlete, Nesta Carter, has pulled out of today’s ninth staging of the JN Jamaica International Invitational World Challenge meet at the National Stadium.

Carter was down to compete in the men’s 100 metres.

Carter joins MVP teammate Asafa Powell who pulled out yesterday because of an injury.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s double world record holder Usain Bolt will headline the meet, which is scheduled to start at 6:05 p.m.

Bolt is down to compete in the men’s 100-metre dash.

The field also includes Bolt’s Jamaican Michael Frater along with Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago and American Darvis Patton.

Jamaica’s new sprinting star Yohan Blake, the 100-metre world champion is down to compete in the men’s 200 metres.

Other world-class athletes confirmed to compete are Jamaicans Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, Sherone Simpson, Kerron Stewart, Melaine Walker and Brigitte Foster-Hylton along with American world champion Carmelita Jeter, Kelly-Ann Baptiste, Debbie Ferguson McKenzie and Sanya Richards-Ross.
