A Jamaica Defence Force Boat is expected to leave here today for Haiti with relief supplies for the storm-ravaged Caribbean nation.

More than 600 people have died as a result of the effects of the four storms to hit Haiti in three weeks.

Thousands more are now in need of food, medicine and shelter.

The supplies being sent by the Jamaican government include water, mattresses, bedding, generators and tarpaulins.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) will also send a three-member team to oversee the recovery.
