Paulwell: Expose unfair gas companies

The energy minister, Phillip Paulwell, says gasoline retailers should expose marketing companies believed to be unfairly pricing their products.

On Wednesday, the Jamaica Gasoline Retailers’ Association (JGRA) disclosed that following Petrojam’s $2.00 reduction for a litre of gasoline last week, one multinational marketing company only cut its price by $1.50.

The JGRA said this means the company has retained $0.50 out of every litre of gas sold.

However, the gasoline retailers’ association did not name the company.

Meanwhile, Paulwell said while the government has no intention of returning to regulating the industry, unreasonable practices should be highlighted.
